June 26, 2025 — New polling by Pollara on national unity finds at least one-in-five adults in Quebec (29%), Alberta (22%), and Saskatchewan (20%) would vote to separate if an independence referendum were held today. While these figures are still low, this marks a new high in separatist sentiment in Alberta during the 10 waves of polling Pollara has conducted on this question over the past 5 years.
While only 22% of Albertans would vote to separate, the majority (56%) feel their province is treated unfairly by the federal government. Saskatchewan is the only other province where the majority (60%) feel they are treated unfairly by the federal government. Close to half in Quebec (48%) and Newfoundland & Labrador (48%) also feel treated unfairly by the federal government, with Ontarians the least likely to feel treated unfairly (21%).
