Phil leverages his unique and expansive skillset and talents – including graphic design, web infrastructure, and social media optimization – to help the Pollara team do more for their clients and look better doing it. He increases the quality and range of our research offerings, and makes our deliverables more compelling and easier to understand.
As our digital research operations lead, Phil is the architect and manager of our MaxReach sampling platform – an industry-leading sample engine that surveys respondents across multiple methods (i.e. online panels, telephone surveys, and social media) through a proprietary targeting algorithm, providing our clients with the most representative samples of their target audiences. He also executes social media recruitment strategies, designing ad creative that maximizes respondent engagement while preventing selection bias.
In addition to his visual brand management responsibilities, Phil also leads development of our data visualization platforms, which include always-on, interactive dashboards that deliver live survey results – and often utilize GIS to map results to geographic jurisdictions and demographics.
For clients with high-stakes campaigns, Phil can design visuals and build secure digital infrastructure, including websites and complex e-commerce and donation systems. As a full-stack developer, he utilizes NoSQL databases like MongoDB and Firebase to deploy resilient web platforms.
Phil first joined Pollara in the late 1990s as an interviewer, before transitioning to the role of webmaster and data visualization specialist. Thereafter, he worked for provincial governments as a Senior Advisor on print, web, and information systems, before returning to Pollara in 2019 to lead the firm’s digital evolution. Phil holds an Honours B.A. in Science, Sociology, & Psychology from Trent University.
