Harris and Trump in Dead Heat in Swing States

September 23, 2024 – With less than 2 months to go, our latest update on the upcoming U.S. Elections reveals that Harris and Trump are tied amongst likely voters across all 7 key swing states. When it comes to US Senate Elections in these states, however, many Democrats currently enjoy healthy leads.

Since January, Pollara’s syndicated study on the 2024 Presidential Election has provided subscribers with regular updates on Canadian and American views about this pivotal race. Through our partnership with Emerson College, our latest update provides new polling amongst Americans in 7 key states – covering the top issues, presidential and gubernatorial vote intent, Harris and Trump impression ratings, assessments of President Biden’s record, and gubernatorial approval ratings.

At this point in the campaign, the economy remains the predominant issue on the minds of likely voters in these states. Although immigration is a prominent secondary issue in Arizona, it is an issue influencing vote choice for only one-in-ten or fewer likely voters in the remaining swing states. Housing affordability and threats to democracy edge out immigration as issues of importance in most key states.

Additionally, although 51% of likely voters across these states expect Harris to win the Presidential Election, this recent wave of polling shows a suggests that perceptions of the Biden legacy have the potential to dampen her electoral chances.

These are just some selected findings from our ongoing subscription-based syndicated study on the 2024 Presidential Election.
