Harris on the rise in U.S. Presidential Race

August 28, 2024 – Since January, Pollara’s syndicated study on the 2024 Presidential Election has provided subscribers with regular updates on Canadian and American views about this pivotal race. Through our partnership with Emerson College, our latest update provides new polling amongst Americans in 7 key swing states – covering the top issues, presidential vote intent, Harris and Trump impression ratings, the impact of Project 2025, assessments of President Biden’s record, and gubernatorial approval ratings.

At this point in the campaign, we are seeing Harris demonstrating continued momentum, making gains in all key swing states. Trump remains in the lead in three and tied in two – but his numbers are softening across all swing states.

The importance of the economy has increased across key states, with housing affordability – an issue not unfamiliar to Canadians – also gaining traction.

President Biden’s approval ratings appear to have rebounded slightly and stabilized, with four-in-ten remaining positive about his record. Nevertheless, views on his presidential legacy is decidedly split. This suggests that Harris should maintain a careful degree of political distance from Biden during the campaign, as she seeks to grow her voter coalition.

These are just some selected findings from our ongoing subscription-based syndicated study on the 2024 Presidential Election.
