November 20, 2024 —Pollara’s latest Rage Index finds Canadians in a foul mood about the results of the US election. In polling conducted over the three days after the November 5th election, 44% of Canadians reported being very angry about “the US presidential election”, an 18-point jump from the 26% who felt very angry about the election in the days leading up to it.
This is not surprising, as the September Rage Index found 66% of Canadians hold negative feelings towards President Trump – including 46% who feel angry towards him. Older voters are especially hostile towards Trump, with 59% angry.
Though Canadians are not happy about the election result, this has not yet had a negative impact on how they feel about our southern neighbours. In the days leading up to the election, 34% had positive feelings about the United States and 58% were negative. Post-election, feelings towards the US are slightly more positive, with 40% positive and 56% negative.
