Majority of Canadians angry towards federal and provincial governments

July 16, 2024 —Pollara’s Rage Index shows the level of anger in Canada is down from this spring, but the majority of Canadians still hold negative feelings towards the federal (56%) and provincial (52%) governments.

With a large sample size of n=3,500 respondents, this edition of the Rage Index breaks out province-by-province results, and finds that anger towards the federal government is highest in Alberta (70%) and Saskatchewan (70%) and lowest in Quebec (49%).

On the provincial scene, New Brunswickers are the angriest towards their provincial government (61%), and New Brunswick is the only province where there is more anger directed provincially than federally.

Meanwhile, the Wab Kinew honeymoon continues in Manitoba, with only 35% of Manitobans feeling negatively towards their provincial government.
