Six-in-ten Canadians more favourable towards Carney because of Davos speech

February 5, 2025 – A new Pollara survey finds 79% of Canadians heard about Prime Minister Mark Carney’s speech in Davos last month. This includes 57% who watched the full speech (18%) or saw clips from it (40%), 6% who read the full speech, and 12% who talked about Carney’s speech with family, friends, or co-workers.

The speech had a significant impact on impressions of the Prime Minister, as six-in-ten (59%) say it made them more favourable towards Carney compared to one-in-ten (10%) who say it made them feel worse about him. Among those who watched the full speech, 83% say it made them feel better about Carney, including 60% who say it made them feel a lot better.
