May 29, 2026 – A new Pollara survey finds two-thirds (67%) of Canadians concerned about crime, with the majority concerned in every region. Specifically, Canadians are most worried about:
- Break-ins / Burglaries
- Drug trafficking / Drug dealing
- Violence crime
- Fraud / Scams
- Gun violence
At the same time, other types of crime pop as localized concerns. In BC, public disorder related to addiction is tied for the top concern, while Quebecers show concern over gang violence, and Ontarians show concern about car jackings.
Meanwhile, the types of crime Canadians have seen or experienced most are theft (23%), fraud / scams (21%), public disorder related to addiction (21%), vandalism (20%), and break-ins / burglaries (19%).
